  • Every cover is themed to one topic, this cover focuses on Stranger Things which is a very popular Netflix series.
  • Stranger things is very popular with a wide range of people due to the use of intertextuality. The main audience for stranger things is teenagers, therefore the audience for this episode of the magazine is likely to be the same.
  • Having themed covers like this allows them to use famous actors on the covers which widens the target audience as these actors will have fans who are likely to be interested. They also used the same font for the heading ‘stranger things’ as the font that it is used in the title sequence for the show, making it easily recognisable.
  • This cover uses the same colour scheme as the title sequence in stranger things and these dark colours are a main convention of the horror genre.
  • The cover shows information about what is in the magazine, in the bottom right there is three questions, this gets the audience thinking about the answers which are likely to be talked about inside the magazine which makes people more likely to want to read it.
  • Other than the name of the magazine and the title of the show, the biggest text says ‘ your first look at season 2’ this suggests that this is one of the only places you can find the information that is in the magazine, this text is bigger to draw attention to it, the most important text is bigger.
  • This magazine does include other topics such as ‘An X-men Series’ and ‘The Will and Grace reveal’ so these topics will attract different people as not everyone is going to like the main focus, stranger things.
  • This cover is very sophisticated which would attract an older audience to the magazine.
  • There aren’t any supporting images on this cover which keeps the attention of the main image of the actors.
  • The masthead of this cover is the same size and font as what is used for all the covers, however the colour changes so that it fits the theme of the cover.
